Vivaldi never wrote lovelier slow movements than the ones in these sonatas. There is a lot in Ceccato’s performances that I did enjoy, but there ia also one movement in particular I dislike: track No. 16, Sonata in F Major, RV IV. Allegro. 2. Christophe Coin plays a period instrument Cello - a Stradivarus "Duport" -, avoiding any "Cello Concerto" intentions; instead playing with vigorous, energetic playing appropriate to Vivaldi and baroque music. Accompanied on Archlute and Baroque guitar, with Christoper Hogwood on harpsichord. Each Sonata is a masterpiece of baroque composition/5(12).
